Concealed Access Panel

Wood access panel swung open on its hinge, set into a stone porch column, stained dark to match the horizontal skirting boards around it.
The same panel closed — stained wood boards running flush and level with the skirting around it, no hardware or seam visible on the face.
OpenClosed
The same panel in raw, unstained wood, propped open against its frame before staining, hinge hardware visible on the inside edge.

What happened

The call

The panel is cut from the same boards as the siding around it — same width, same reveal, same stain. Nothing on the face gives it away.

Open, it swings on a hinge set into the frame. Closed, it's held shut by magnets set in epoxy — strong enough to hold through wind and vibration, loose enough to pop open with a finger under the edge.

It sits low on the wall at a stone column, where a wire and transformer for deck lighting need a way back in without a hinged door standing out on the front of the house.

Scope
Cut-in access panel for a wire and transformer run behind the siding
Fastening
Magnets set in epoxy — no visible hinge or latch when it's shut
Finish
Stained and painted to match the field boards, cut edge sealed
