Saved the elevation
A future access point for deck wiring didn't have to look like a door.
This one started with a future problem, not a present one. There was an electrical wire and a transformer for deck lighting that would need an access point in the siding — not now, but eventually, when something needed servicing.
The standard answer is a hinged door with a lock. It works. It's also visible, it's clunky, and it sits on the front elevation of a house somebody spent two years building — announcing itself every time you look at the wall.
Access doesn't have to look like access. That's the only question worth asking here.
I cut a minimal panel with a multi-tool, then painted and stained the cut edge to match the siding exactly. Magnets went into epoxy on both the panel and the frame around it — strong enough to hold through wind and vibration, loose enough that you can still get a finger under the edge and pop it open.
Invisible unless you know it's there. This one isn't cheaper and isn't faster. It's just right.
